Energy Vault licenses technology for China
Lugano/Houston/Haian - Energy Vault is licensing its technology for gravity-based storage plants to the Texas-based company Atlas Renewable LLC, which plans to build storage plants in China. There, Energy Vault is working with China Tianying, the main investor in Atlas Renewable.
SIG Combibloc acquires US competitor
Neuhausen am Rheinfall/Elmhurst - SIG Combibloc, the packaging manufacturer based in the Greater Zurich Area, has agreed a takeover deal of its North American competitor Scholle IPN worth 1.36 billion euros. SIG intends to leverage Scholle IPN’s expertise in the area of packaging for fluids to expand into new markets and segments.
Chinese authority adopts water monitoring process from rqmicro
Schlieren/Beijing - The Chinese health authority CDC is now using the rqmicro.COUNT measuring device developed by the start-up rqmicro, based in the Greater Zurich Area. This instrument is able to monitor the presence of legionella bacteria in water.
CarboQuant research project awarded eight-figure grant
Dübendorf - A grant of 15 million Swiss francs awarded by the Werner Siemens Foundation will finance research work conducted as part of the CarboQuant project at Empa over the next decade. This will allow the research team from the Greater Zurich Area to discover whether magnetic graphene can be used as the building materials for quantum computers of the future.
Innovative concept set to offer flexible lab space
Olten/Schlieren - Swiss Prime Site Immobilien has entered into a strategic partnership with Superlab Suisse, a supplier of laboratory spaces. Together, the partners are planning to establish new flexible laboratory facilities covering an area of 5,400 square meters in the Greater Zurich Area. Both established companies and start-ups will be able to hire these spaces.
Medbase and Hirslanden launching healthcare portal with other partners
Opfikon/Winterthur - Together with two other partners from the Greater Zurich Area and Groupe Mutuel, Hirslanden and Medbase are launching a digitally supported healthcare ecosystem. The healthtech project Compassana enables users to arrange personal healthcare.
Leonteq launches new index for crypto assets
Zurich - The fintech firm Leonteq has issued its first certificate on the crypto index. At present, it tracks the performance of 11 crypto assets with a market capitalization of around 73 percent. It is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
