Zurich - A team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) has been able to create muscle in the laboratory without genetic engineering. This makes the method safer. It could be used for surgery, to help with muscle disorders, or to do away with animal slaughter.
ANYbotics concludes partnership in Canada
Zurich/Calgary - Canadian company MicroWatt Controls is the new sales partner for the ANYmal autonomous inspection robot from ANYbotics. It will be used first and foremost in Canada’s oil and gas industries as well as the chemicals, energy, and mining sectors.
Shanghai Ranking counts ETH among 20 best universities
Shanghai/Zurich - The recently published 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities from the independent Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has placed the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) at number 20. The University of Geneva has significantly improved to 49th place.
Researchers successfully control graphene nanoribbons using electrodes for the first time
Dübendorf/Beijing/Coventry - Researchers from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology are examining quantum effects on graphene nanoribbons together with an international team. For the first time, the researchers have been able to attach electrodes to these nanoribbons and contact them.

Novaziun launches fully electric single-axle machine
Vella - The machinery manufacturer Novaziun has developed an electric single-axle equipment carrier. This is the first electric single-axle machine in the 20 kilowatt performance class. The agricultural machine does not emit any toxic exhaust fumes, while it is also quiet and easy to operate, even on slopes.
US authorities select Climeworks for major carbon capture project
Zurich/Washington D.C. - The US Department of Energy has selected Climeworks for a project aiming to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. Together with other partners, the ETH Zurich spin-off will strive to play its part in the removal of one million metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.
