Zurich - Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) have trained an artificial intelligence tool to design metamaterials with specific properties at the touch of a button. It can predict structures that are more efficient than anything previously generated.

Lugano - The Startup Centre at the Università della Svizzera (USI) and Chamber of Commerce for the canton of Ticino are to work together to establish favorable conditions for the establishment and growth of startups in the region. They have now signed an agreement to this effect.

Bellinzona - The Grand Council of Ticino has enshrined in law the structure of the Innovation Park Ticino, which is currently under construction, with the competence centers as its central pillars. Zurich/Heilbronn - Thanks to a donation from the Dieter Schwarz Foundation in Heilbronn, Germany, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) is planning to build a center for responsible digital transformation. Over the next 30 years, a total of 20 professorships are to be created at both the Heilbronn teaching campus and in Zurich.

Zurich/Cambridge - Marco Hutter will head up the Boston Dynamics AI Institute in Zurich. At the same time, the co-founder of the mobile robot firm ANYbotics will remain active as Professor of Robotics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and Director of the ETH Center for Robotics.

Winterthur - Autoneum improves the acoustic and environmental performance of vehicles by using new components made from Propylat. The material, which comprises recycled synthetic and natural fibers, was developed by Borgers Automotive, a company that was acquired by Autoneum in April 2023.

Zurich - A technology recently developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich to guide tiny gas bubbles through blood vessels using ultrasound also works in the brain. In future, the technique could be used to transport drugs to precise locations.
