Zurich – The Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway is set to become the new space station. RUAG Space, a company from the Greater Zurich Area, is participating in the development of the structure and thermal subsystems for the station’s European module.

Zurich – Researchers at the University of Zurich and Harvard University have developed a new method in the search for psychoactive drugs. By analyzing the behavior of larval zebrafish, they can filter out substances with unwanted side effects. The startup company EraCal Therapeutics is now planning to develop the method further.
Computer-controlled catheters
Zurich/Lausanne – Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and its equivalent in Lausanne have developed a very small magnetic catheter with variable stiffness. Surgeons operate this catheter from a computer to perform more complex movements.

Gbanga game wins Universal competition
Zurich – Gbanga, a games developer from Zurich, has won the Universal GameDev Challenge in the USA. As well as prize money totaling 150,000 dollars, it has scooped a one-year consultancy contract with Universal.
