Zurich – Venture capital investment in Swiss start-ups rose sharply in the first half of 2019. According to an analysis by Venturelab, start-ups from the Greater Zurich Area raised the most venture capital. One billion Swiss francs has already been invested to date.
New Swiss innovation platform for the automotive industry
Zurich/Winterthur – A new platform is to foster dialogue between start-ups, established companies and garages, with the aim of driving forward innovation in the automotive industry. The platform was founded by Carhelper, the Swiss Startup Factory and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
GET LOCAL is set for expansion
Zurich – GET LOCAL, a startup from the Greater Zurich Area, has become the first non-German company to be nominated as a finalist for a Hotelverband Deutschland award. The company has also raised new capital, with its sights now set on expansion into Germany.
Burglary detection device wins Swiss digital insurance award
Dübendorf/Zurich – Swiss direct insurer smile.direct and insurtech company mitipi have won the DIA Diamond Award. Mitipi developed a device for detecting burglars, smile.direct offers a corresponding insurance solution.
Designwerk expands its battery business
Winterthur – Designwerk Products AG is acquiring the Batteriewerk brand, a company that electrifies electric vehicles of all kinds. Production will take place at Designwerk’s site in the Greater Zurich Area.
AXA and Veezoo launch smart assistant
Winterthur/Zurich – The insurance group AXA and the start-up Veezoo are working together in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Together, the partners are launching a smart, dialog-based assistant, which can help process large volumes of data and answer questions about this as well.
HWZ launches digital degree in marketing
Zurich – The University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ) is launching a degree course for digital communication and marketing techniques. The CAS Digital Marketing Pro can be almost entirely completed digitally.
New Allergy Campus at Hochgebirgsklinik Davos
Davos – At the end of June, a new campus building on the site of the Hochgebirgsklinik Davos hospital was officially opened. The new laboratory and office facilities will conduct cutting-edge research and training in the fields of asthma and allergies.
