In particular, from the 2021/22 academic year onwards, the Institute for Design will be dedicated to Master’s training for students to develop interaction designers, one of the most sought-after professional profiles in the world at present. The two-year, English-language course is designed “spearhead” international activities in this area, while also aiming to combine design culture, hardware and software technologies for the rapid development of prototypes and user-centric approaches. Graduates from this SUPSI institute should be empowered to form an effective part of international, interdisciplinary teams in their careers.

“We were very determined to establish this institute”, comments Professor Silvio Seno, Director of the Department of Environment, Construction and Design, in the press release, before adding: “It optimally combines research and training with topics that encompass strong socio-economic effects, above all digitization”. Using various means of communication, the Institute for Design will make an important contribution to relevant topics such as sustainability and environmental protection, open science and cultural education.
