Neuhausen SH/Darmstadt - Trapeze is to install its LIO Volta cloud solution in 30 e-buses operated by the Darmstadt-based HEAG mobilo. The solution delivers real-time fleet data to the existing operations control system. As a result, energy consumption and therefore the remaining range can then also be calculated.

HEAG mobilo is to equip 30 of its electric buses with the newly developed cloud-based solution LIO Volta from Trapeze. With this move, the transport operator from the German city of Darmstadt will be able to integrate the vehicles in its existing operations control system.

The data captured by the Trapeze on-board computer is sent to the LIO Volta system. On the basis of this data, the cloud platform is able to forecast energy consumption and therefore the remaining range for individual vehicles. In so doing, the system takes into account a series of factors, including external temperature, the number of passengers, topography of the route and traffic flow, among others.

An automated alarm function informs the traffic control center about any problems that have arisen. In this way, Trapeze is able to ensure that no electric vehicles will breakdown mid-journey due to empty batteries, as the company details in a press release.
